Greetings!
Heritage Theatre Company is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that produces history inspired theatre productions as well as those that relate to the social issues of our time. In addition to our main productions, we offer arts education for all ages through classes, small performance projects and summer camps.
Please go to "Community Arts & Meals" to learn about our latest initiative, an arts education program that interfaces with the food service offered by Bend's Community Center. Our board is tremendously dedicated to this program for adults, families, children and teens who are experiencing housing instability and homelessness.
A mastery approach to arts education in community arts programs has been proven to increase self-esteem and autonomy, social competence, high level thinking and problem solving, better school achievement and a sense of purpose for the future. For students of all ages who have a particular ability and passion for an arts genre, access to community arts education can be even more profound.
Our initial session of programming starts on January 31, 2010 with multiple layers of classes layered in until July 11. We'll keep you posted on our progress through our blog.
If you would like to volunteer as an assistant teacher or arts mentor; or, if you would like to donate arts supplies or cash to support the Community Arts & Meals program, please contact Executive Director Janet Kingsley @ 541-788-1220 or 541-306-6751. |
